The Gift of Jesus

Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,

Yet Not I but Through Christ in Me by CityAlight

What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace.

To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to His
Oh how strange and divine, I can sing all is mine
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Savior He will stay
I labor on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need, His power is displayed.

To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley He will lead
Oh the night has been won, and I shall overcome
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave.

To this I hold, my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released, I can sing: I am free
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For He has said that He will bring me home
And day by day, I know He will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne.

To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory is evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory is evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

God Came to Us
The best gift ever is Christ. The greatest treasure heaven has to offer is Christ. These days, we often desire many different things, but Christ is everything we could ever need.

John 1:1-3, 16 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made… Out of His fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.”

Jesus embodies all of God’s ability and creativity. By Him, all things were created, for Him and through Him. Jesus Christ is the fullness of God given to us.

Our hope is in Christ alone, and nothing else.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Since the fall of man, humanity has lived in fear, uncertain of its destiny. But when Christ came, our sins were completely forgiven—both in this life and the one to come. As believers, we have no fear because Jesus has paid it all.

Matthew 1:21 “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

1 Peter 2:24 “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds, you have been healed.”

This is the message of salvation.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

All the chains of sin are broken. As Jesus said in:

John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Jesus lives forever, interceding for the saints. He is the only one who died, rose again, and lives eternally. He declared in:

John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.”

Just as Christ rose, we too will put on a new, glorified body. Immortality will swallow up mortality.

With every breath, we must be clear in our minds that we are saved eternally. We must be certain of why Jesus came. Many believers serve Him for material blessings, but in Christ, we have life itself. When we leave this world, we can confidently say we have an eternal advantage.

Some serve out of compulsion, but believers serve in love, not out of fear.

1 John 3:1-2 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

If Christ does not give life, then there is no point in being a Christian. But we know He does.

1 John 3:3 “All who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure.”

We do not serve out of fear, but because He loves us. Perfect love casts out all fear, and this gives us hope and assurance. What we have in Christ is far greater than anything in this world.

We serve in assurance and love, compelled by His love for us.
