John 5:39–40 – “You search the Scriptures, because you think in them you have eternal life; but these are they which testify of Me. Yet you will not come to Me that you may have life
When we open the Scriptures, the first thing we should see is Christ Himself. The Bible is not primarily a book about wealth, healing, or protection. All of these are good, but they are secondary. The true purpose of the Scriptures is to point us to a Person—Jesus Christ.
Jesus said in John 5:39–40: “You search the Scriptures, because you think in them you have eternal life; but these are they which testify of Me. Yet you will not come to Me that you may have life.” From Genesis to Revelation, the message is consistent: the Word of God reveals Christ.
The Message of Christ is Salvation
Paul reminded Timothy that, “from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).
The Bible is not a collection of moral lessons or inspirational sayings—it is God’s revelation of His plan of salvation. And that salvation is found only in Christ. John 3:16 declares it plainly: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Every person, regardless of background, wealth, or culture, needs salvation. This is the uniqueness of Christianity: no prophet or religion can offer eternal life. Only Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
Christ Came to Give Us Life
Beyond forgiveness of sins, Christ came to impart eternal life—the very life and nature of God. The Bible calls this “Zoe,” God’s quality of life.
Adam’s disobedience brought death to all humanity, but through Christ’s resurrection, eternal life is available to everyone who believes. This life is not just a future promise of heaven; it is a present reality for every believer. As 1 John 5:11–12 says: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
To be saved is to receive God’s life in you today.
Christ, Who is Our Life
Paul makes this truth very clear in Colossians 3:3–4: “Your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
For the believer, Christ is not just a helper or a teacher—He is our life. When we are born again, we are born of God, and His life becomes our nature. Just as a dog naturally barks because it has the nature of a dog, the believer naturally expresses the life of God because of this new nature within.
Christianity is not about striving to become righteous; it is about living out the reality of the life we have received.
God’s Testimony About Us
The world may define us by our weaknesses, our failures, or our past, but God gives a greater testimony. 1 John 5:9–13 tells us: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”
If you have Christ, you have life. This is not a future promise but a present possession. Eternal life is already yours if you believe. Our role is to align our thinking and living with God’s testimony, not with the opinions of men.
A New Creation Reality
2 Corinthians 5:17 declares: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Becoming a Christian is not about patching up the old life—it is receiving a completely new life from God. You are not defined by your earthly background, family struggles, or past sins. Your identity is now rooted in Christ.
Adopted into God’s Household
Because of salvation, we are now members of God’s family. Ephesians 2:19 says: “You are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.”
We share His nature, His Spirit, and His inheritance. Colossians 1:12–13 reminds us that God has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints, delivering us from the power of darkness and translating us into the kingdom of His Son.
Our spiritual DNA has changed—we belong to a new household.
Living With the Consciousness of Eternal Life
Christianity is not about religious routines; it is about living with the awareness that the life of God is in you. This changes everything:
- You are no longer ordinary.
- You are not bound by ancestral curses or worldly limitations.
- You walk in the reality of the divine life.
Like adoption transforms the destiny of a child, being born into God’s family has completely transformed your destiny.
The heart of the gospel is simple: Christ is our life. The Scriptures point us to Him, salvation comes through Him, eternal life is in Him, and our identity is found in Him.
This is God’s testimony: “He who has the Son has life” (1 John 5:12).
If you have not yet received Christ, this is your opportunity. Eternal life is only found in the Son. Pray sincerely:
“Lord Jesus, I believe You died for me and rose again. I confess You as my Lord and Savior. Today, I receive eternal life. Thank You for saving me.”
Welcome to the family of God—you now have the life of God in you!
Daily Confession
“I have the life of God in me.
I am a new creation in Christ.
Old things have passed away,
All things have become new.
I am a child of God,
A partaker of His divine nature.
Hallelujah!”
