In this message, we continued our series on Supernatural Success, focusing on the importance of aligning our actions with God’s direction. While believers are called to trust in God’s grace and supernatural help, we must also understand that faith requires action.
God’s power works in partnership with our obedience. We are not called to place our confidence in human effort, but neither are we called to remain passive. Supernatural success occurs when we trust God and take the steps He directs.
1. God Directs Steps, Not Just Desires
Psalm 37:23 tells us:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.”
God is interested in every detail of our lives and desires to guide us. However, guidance becomes meaningful only when we are willing to move.
Many believers spend time praying, fasting, and waiting on God but never take the necessary steps that align with what they are believing for.
Faith begins with trust, but it is expressed through action.
God orders steps. We must be willing to take them.
2. Faith Requires Participation
One of the clearest examples of this principle is Jesus’ first miracle at the wedding in Cana.
Jesus could have produced wine instantly, but instead He instructed the servants to fill the water jars. Their obedience became part of the miracle.
Throughout Scripture, God often invites people to participate in what He is doing.
Philippians 2:13 reminds us that:
“It is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”
God gives both:
- The desire
- The ability
Our responsibility is to respond.
God provides the grace; we provide the obedience.
3. Faith Becomes Effective Through Action
Faith is not merely believing something in our hearts; it is acting upon what we believe.
James teaches that faith without corresponding action is dead. Genuine faith always produces movement.
Abraham demonstrated faith by leaving his homeland.
Noah demonstrated faith by building the ark.
Peter demonstrated faith by letting down his nets at Jesus’ command.
In every case, faith was revealed through action.
Faith is visible through the steps we take.
4. God Uses Ordinary People
One of the most encouraging truths in Scripture is that God works through ordinary people.
Hebrews 11 is filled with men and women who were imperfect, fearful, and often uncertain. Yet they accomplished extraordinary things because they trusted God and obeyed Him.
Gideon was afraid.
Rahab had a troubled past.
Samson had weaknesses.
Abraham made mistakes.
Yet God still used them.
God is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for willing people.
5. Move Even When You Feel Afraid
Many people assume they must feel completely confident before taking action. Scripture teaches otherwise.
When Peter cast his net after fishing unsuccessfully all night, he was not acting because of confidence in himself. He acted because of confidence in God’s word.
Often, faith means moving forward despite fear, uncertainty, or previous disappointment.
Remember:
- Even when you are fearful, move.
- Even when you are uncertain, start.
- Even when you have failed before, try again.
Courage is not the absence of fear; it is obedience in the presence of fear.
6. Don’t Despise Small Beginnings
Every significant achievement starts with a small step.
A business starts with an idea.
A ministry starts with a burden.
Financial growth starts with a single act of stewardship.
A changed life starts with one decision.
Too many people wait for the perfect moment, while God is asking them to simply begin.
Small steps, consistently taken, lead to significant outcomes.
7. Your Failures Do Not Define You
Hebrews 11 records the victories of God’s people, not their failures.
The heroes of faith were not perfect. They stumbled, made mistakes, and faced setbacks. Yet God remained faithful and continued to work through them.
The enemy wants us to focus on our failures. God calls us to keep moving forward.
Proverbs reminds us:
“Though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.”
Failure is not the end of the journey. Keep taking steps of faith.
Practical Application
Ask yourself:
- What has God placed in my heart?
- What step have I been delaying?
- What action can I take this week?
Perhaps it is:
- Starting that business
- Applying for that job
- Registering for that course
- Sharing your faith
- Praying for someone
- Reaching out to mend a relationship
- Beginning a ministry assignment
Whatever it is, take the next step.
Supernatural success is not simply about believing God for great things. It is about partnering with Him through faith-filled obedience.
As God gives the desire, He also provides the ability.
Trust Him.
Obey Him.
Take the step.
And watch God do what only He can do.
