The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning, the priest is to add firewood, arrange the burnt offering on the fire, and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it. Leviticus 6:12
Importance of keeping the fire
- We are royal priests and mobile priests.
Wherever we find ourselves, we ought to be a light, showcasing the goodness of God.
- It is an instruction.
…you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:5
It is our responsibility to ensure the light does not go out. We are mandated to let our light shine before men (Matthew 5:16).
- For us to experience the fullness of the possibilities we have in Christ, we ought to grow into maturity.
For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2 Timothy 1:6
We are to fan the flame of the gift that God has given us. As believers, we have everything we need inside us, and we should not be deficient in any way.
How to fire your fire.
- Prayer:
You cannot afford to ignore the place of prayer. You must have a dedicated lifestyle of prayer.
“Pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Remove every form of distraction hindering you from praying. As Royal Priests, we should be engaged in constant and consistent fellowship.
“For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.” Psalm 149:4
God delights in fellowshipping with His children, build up your spirit man by praying in the Holy Ghost.
- The Word:
They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32
Do you have a systematic approach to meditating on the Word? The Berean Jews went back to the Word to check if the preached Word was true.
You must passionately engage with the Word consistently. The discipline of study helps us know the Word of God.
- Obedience:
If they obey and serve him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment. Job 36:11
Every act of disobedience to God’s Word takes us away from the fulfilment of God’s promises. We have been called to the great commission, not omission.
In conclusion, God desires intimacy with His children. In the place of prayer, the study of His Word and obedience, we discover His heart and purposes for our lives. God delights in us and desires us to walk and reign as Royal Priests on earth.
Shalom.
