How to Align with God’s Strategic Plan
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Key Aspects of God’s Strategic Plan:
- It is good – God’s plan exceeds human imagination and reflects His perfect goodness.
- Shalom – A state of wholeness, peace, and fruitfulness where natural needs are satisfied, and gifts are fully utilised.
- Transformative – Gideon moved from fear to boldness, power, and victory.
- Generational – God’s plan is not limited to you but extends beyond, shaping future generations (Genesis 26:2-5).
- Hope-filled – A confident expectation in God’s promises (Romans 4:18).
- Requires Faith & Patience – Trusting God’s wisdom and timing, even when understanding is partial (1 Corinthians 13:9).
How Do We Align with God’s Plan?
A. Prioritising Relationship with God – John 17:3 – “And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.”
- Pursue intimacy with God over material resources.
- When you delight in God, His desires become yours (Psalm 1).
- God is involved in daily details, not just major life events.
B. Establishing Spiritual Disciplines
1. Renewing Your Mind – Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
- Like a renovation project, clear out outdated, harmful thoughts.
- Let God’s Word reshape your worldview in areas like work, money, and relationships.
2. Discovering God’s Will – God speaks through His Word and places strong, persistent thoughts in your heart (Philippians 2:13). Learn to discern God’s voice through practice (Hebrews 5:14).
3. Making Plans – Habakkuk 2:2-3 And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Be precise and intentional in your planning. Align with constants like prayer and the Word. Focus on your relationship with God, health, family, ministry, career/business, finances and relationships.
4. Taking Action – Plans alone are not enough—execute them. Hebrews 11:1 Faith is now.
C. Removing Hindrances
1. Letting Go of Tradition – Mark 7:13 – “Tradition can nullify the Word of God.”
- Question routines or beliefs that hinder spiritual growth.
- Ask: What habits do I need to change?
2. Removing Sin & Weights – Hebrews 12:1-2 – “Strip off every sin and weight that slows you down.” Sin and distractions cause delays and struggles.
3. The Time is Now – Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NLT) – “Time and chance happen to us all.”
Call to Action:
- Recognise and seize God-given opportunities.
- Change associations and habits that hinder progress.
Conclusion
- Transformation requires change – you cannot continue the same way and expect different results.
- Prioritise relationship with God over resources by this you will live satisfied lives.
- Establish spiritual disciplines like studying the Word and prayer.
- Practice hearing God, write as inspired, curate plans and take action.
If you do these things, you will be aligned with God’s strategic plan for your life sending you upwards and onwards to greatness.
